Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy

Life, the Universe, and Everything

Penguin Books commissioned Block Interactive to produce a global, pan-publisher campaign website to promote the launch and ongoing publication of the new Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy novel by Eoin Colfer, titled And Another Thing.

Block assembled a crack team to deliver the project, including the late Douglas Adams’ business partner and Rob Corradi, Creative Director on the award-winning website for the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy feature film.

The site was a key element in the tightly orchestrated launch marketing schedule, and was designed to embrace existing HHGG fans as well as to appeal to newbies. The site introduced a number of exciting features such as previously-unseen Douglas Adams interviews, an excellently off-the-wall Vogon Training game, an extensive community feed bringing in content from fan groups worldwide, Tweet the Galaxy (a time capsule of Tweets), an interactive Hitch Timeline, and of course multi-region eCommerce functionality.
